The nights are certainly longer and darker, the puffins and most of the seabirds have departed our shores. The reality is that we are heading towards storms and the night skies as our regular viewers will know only too well.
The aurora on the evening of Monday 7th September 2026 was a great start to the aurora season in Shetland. This one was quite active and quite bright for a while.
I have provided the recordings from the cams that had the best skies as there was a lot of cloud covering the island.
