Smiley happy people

Happy people arriving on the Gunilla on Monday 31st August 2026

Tall Ship arrivals in Shetland are always a welcome sight. The T/s Gunilla is a Swedish three-masted barque and active sail training ship used as a floating high school for young people.

We managed to capture her arrival on Monday 31st August 2026 on the Lerwick Boating Club live stream and due to where she berthed we managed to get some good close-up views of the activity onboard as they tie-up.

I have posted the entire arrival footage so that parents can feel proud of their amazing global ambassadors and to encourage others to seek this life-changing experience.

What stood out, at least to me, is the fun they were all having. Lots of smiley happy people and not a smartphone to be seen. Now…if we could just roll this way of life out across the world…

I have updated this post to include some shots of the departure on 7th September 2026 as captured from as many of our cameras as possble. The light and visibility were good enough to get some long distance shots from our Cliff Cam 1 at Sumburgh Head.
